Update to the Model Boat Manual Page
The model boat manual page has been updated with the table of contents and eight sample pages.
This site has been set up to offer model makers construction plans based largely on the full-size Selway Fisher Design. For those of you not familiar with Selway Fisher's range of designs go to selway-fisher.com where you will find well over 300 designs for craft ranging in size from 6' to 60' covering a very wide range of craft from canoes and dinghies to yachts, motor boats and steam/electric launches. Some of these designs will be used as the basis for a range of plans to be sold from this site for the construction of model boats using various different techniques and wood materials. The Model Boat Plans page will give you a flavour of what some of these plans will be.

makeamodelboat.com now has it’s own user’s group and forum. This is a group primarily for
those building model boats from the makeamodelboat/Selway Fisher range but also those
making model boats to other designs
Currently on the drawing board at the Selway Fisher Design office is a really salty looking
pocket cruiser/yacht – she is 20’ LOD (length over deck) with a generous beam and is my
interpretation of a North American skipjack
After a youth messing around in all sorts of boats on the Thames, Paul Fisher gained a BSc (Bachelor of Science) degree in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding from Newcastle University in 1974 and shortly after became a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
