The Selway Fisher Little Kate open canoe is a modification of the classic John Rushton Wee Lassie design which he was producing over a hundred years ago.
The originals were of lapstrake Cedar planking but we have modified the design so that it can be built using the frameless ply/epoxy or stitch and tape construction.
She is very much a lightweight single man canoe easily portaged from water to water.
The plans are for a model of the wider 32" Little Kate.
Construction uses 0.4 - 0.75mm aircraft modelling plywood and the tack and tape (stitch and tape) construction method.
The plans give full-size plank shapes for the model. The planks are cut out of the thin plywood using scissors and held together with Sellotape before the seams are glued together using a PVA glue.
For details of the full-size Fisher Little Kate 11' canoe go to on the Selway Fisher Design web site.
The model plans consist of one A1 sheet giving full-size shapes for the construction plus six A4 sheets giving a photo sequence and instructions for the model's construction and fit-out for a similar canoe model. The scale is 1:7.5
